Peach & Lily's New Moisturizer Made My Combination Skin Glisten Like Glass

I'm a believer.

Peach & Lily, Glass Skin Moisturizer

 Peach & Lily

Glass skin trend is the K-beauty craze that's all about smooth, glistening skin, and at the forefront, there’s Peach & Lily—the brand that’s bottled up the secret over and over with every new launch. Following its cult-favorite Glass Skin Refining Serum and Glass Skin Veil Mist, the brand is launching another game-changing elixir to get you one step closer to your glass skin goals: Peach & Lily Glass Skin Water-Gel Moisturizer ($40). The water-gel moisturizer was "created specifically for those with oily, acne-prone, or combination skin who believe glass skin may be out of reach for them," the brand shared. Having combination skin myself and always on the hunt for that ever-elusive sheen, I had to know more about this latest addition to the Peach & Lily family.

The Formula: Pre- and probiotics for healthy skin

"I wanted to create a formula that would help skin in a fundamental way. When your skin’s actual ecosystem is stronger, so many skin concerns can resolve on their own," CEO and founder Alicia Yoon tells us. The lightweight moisturizer hydrates, balances and soothes the skin, all while providing that instant glass-like glow. The clean hydrator is full of good-for-your-skin favorites like hyaluronic acid and antioxidants like vitamin C, along with a few key ingredients for balancing the skin.

ABOUT THE BRAND: CEO and founder Alicia Yoon created Peach & Lily as a resource for top Korean Beauty products, offering affordable and accessible skincare free of harsh chemicals, dyes, alcohol, parabens, or sulfates.

Inspired by kimchi, the vegan pre-and-probiotic complex strengthens your skin’s microbiome keeping it balanced and helping it thrive (two things we could all use more of in 2020). "We’ve been working on creating a rich, vegan pre-and-probiotic complex for a few years because we knew this would be a powerful way to offer a transformative skin solution," Yoon explained.

The formula is also chock full of skin superfoods. Reishi mushrooms bind moisture from the environment to the skin and help revive it; licorice and chamomile unleash their soothing powers; peach and kiwi extracts, rich in vitamins and minerals, work their magic for enhanced radiance. All are important in achieving glass skin.

The Review: Healthier, hydrated skin

I’ll be honest, this trend always seemed just a little bit out of my reach. With combination skin, texture, and large pores, the closest I get to glass-like skin some days is having to blot my greasy forehead midday. This moisturizer and a few wise words from Yoon completely changed my mind. In a customized skincare routine video with more tips and tricks than I could count, she explained to me that the key to glass skin was your version of healthy skin. "What healthy skin has in common is inner hydration you can see from the inside out— there’s an inner luminosity that shows up on your skin," she said. Simple enough, no?

Let’s get into the moisturizer—the water-gel texture is super lightweight and hydrating. I’m hesitant to use gel moisturizers in the fall and winter because of how dry my skin gets, but this quenched my thirsty skin instantly. It glides on smoothly, thanks to a plant-based silicone alternative, absorbs quickly, and hydrates without feeling heavy or oily. It feels like the perfect addition to the routine Yoon recommended I follow for combination skin, which includes double-cleansing, exfoliating, deep moisturizing, and a few extras like facial massage and facial yoga

The Verdict: Glass skin is for every skin type

Although I initially thought a gel moisturizer just wasn't going to cut it, especially heading into the thick of a New York winter, I worked the moisturizer into my routine with trust in Yoon's expertise. I was fully prepared for tight and dry skin but instead, my skin felt and looked moisturized.

Yoon explained that you can of course follow up with oil. She recommends and uses Pure Beam Luxe Oil ($39) for her combination and eczema-prone skin, but I didn't find it necessary. I skipped (read: forgot) following up with one of the facial oils I keep in rotation and I still got that same effect. My takeaway? Glass skin is way more attainable than I thought, even for my stubborn-at-times combination skin.
