Unless you've found yourself in a dermatologist's office or received a recommendation from a friend, you may not have heard of CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. You might have heard of the brand for their acne treatments, but moisturizers are so plentiful that it's easy for a great one to slip through the cracks. However, if you're still searching for a moisturizer because you have sensitive skin, psoriasis, or very dry skin, don't give up until you try CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

While all the CeraVe products are great for sensitive skin, I put this one, in particular, to the test to help with my ultra-dry skin. Keep reading to learn more about my experience with this derm-approved moisturizer.

About the Brand: CeraVe is a dermatologist-developed skincare brand known for its patented 24-hour hydration technology.

About My Skin: Very Dry

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is one of those golden treasures in skincare that isn't exactly known by everyone. I personally had never heard of the product until an appointment with my dermatologist a few years ago. I was on medication for adult acne, and my skin was so dry. He sent me home with a few samples, and after my first use of the cream, I was hooked. I figured that it was a special "dermatologist recommended" moisturizer that I was going to have to shell out lots of money for, but surprisingly enough it was under $20.

But this moisturizer isn't only perfect for dry skin like I had, it may also work great for sensitive skin, psoriasis, and many other skin conditions. But even if you don't have any special skin concerns, it will likely work for you as an effective and hydrating moisturizer. CeraVe is so gentle that pediatricians often recommend it for babies and children with eczema.

The Feel: Nourishing

This moisturizer is not only extremely hydrating, but it also feels effective on sensitive skin conditions. It's not too heavy or oily and doesn't sit on your skin.

Cerave Moisturizing Cream

The Ingredients: Ceramides and More Ceramides

CeraVe was developed by dermatologists and uses a patented formulation that promises to provide a protective barrier on the skin's surface. According to the brand, this special formulation, called Multivesicular Emulsion Technology, ensures the moisturizer will be time-released throughout the day for complete hydration. CeraVe also uses ceramides, which are meant to help retain water in the skin. Our skin naturally contains ceramides that start to deplete over time. CeraVe products contain three different ceramides, which are meant to help not only protect the skin but also to keep it hydrated all day long.

What Are Ceramides?

Ceramides are lipids that work to keep skin moist, hydrated, and soft. They also protect the skin from environmental pollutants.

This cream is especially good for those with extremely dry skin, or skin that dries out halfway through the day. One application will last the entire day long. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is also fragrance-free, so those sensitive to fragrance in their skin care products can try it with ease. The product may also work well for people undergoing chemotherapy and experiencing severely dry skin as a result.

How to Apply: The More, The Merrier

This particular product is an all-over body moisturizer; you can use it on your face as well as the rest of your body. I know—many of you may shudder at the idea of putting the same cream on your face and body, but you'll have to trust me and try it; you won't be disappointed.

The Results: All-Day Hydration

The 24-hour hydration technology is real. Just remember, there is no SPF in it, so don't forget to protect yourself with sunscreen.

The Value: Little Risk, Big Reward

With such a low cost for such a high-quality product, it's time to pass the word on. Don't believe us? Take a look at the reviews on Amazon, CeraVe has tons of great reviews, plenty being five-star.
