Kosas Brow Pop Dual-Action Defining Pencil has changed how I do my eyebrows. The triangular tip gives me my desired brow shape every time. It can take me from natural-looking brows to bolder, Cara Delevingne-esque arches.
Ever since Netflix released the second season of Emily in Paris, all I can think about is upping my brow game. (I mean, who hasn’t fallen head-over-heels for Lily Collin’s perfectly precise, thick brows?) Naturally, this drove me to reevaluate my current brow routine and I found that, frankly, my current products just aren’t cutting it. Enter: Kosas Brow Pop Dual-Action Defining Pencil. I’ve seen the influencer-loved pencil all over social media for a while now, but never gave it a go. Luckily, I had the chance to test out the product for myself. I usually stick to brow gel out of pure laziness (and because I sometimes find pencils daunting), but this product is easy to use and gives me perfect brows every time. Curious about what makes this brow product stand out from the rest? Read on for my review.

About My Brows: Long and occasionally unruly
I’ve always been a bit self-conscious about my eyebrows. From a young age, my brows were long and unruly and didn’t match the profile of my hair, which has always been manageable. These days, bold brows are all the rage, so I could not be more pleased to have fuller brows.
When it comes to brow products, I look for options that keep my brow hairs in place and add volume. I also look for darker shades to contrast my light brown hair. For my everyday makeup, I just fill in the front and underside of my brows to get a crisp, even brow.
How to Apply: Soft flicks to create a hair-like effect
The standout feature of this brow product is its triangular tip. The thinner side of the triangle creates soft, hair-like lines, while the thicker side is for filling in sparser areas of your brow that need a bit more color. It's extremely pigmented—I usually have a heavier hand when applying brow products, but with one, all I needed was gentle flicks to get that natural-looking effect that I desired. For days that I like to go a bit thicker, I found that applying more flicks instead of pressing down harder is the way to go.
On the opposite end of the pencil, you'll find a spoolie brush. I like to brush my eyebrows upwards before applying any eyebrow product to get a fluffier overall look, which is what I did with this product. Then, after filling them in, I brushed upwards again to reinforce that fluffier look before going in with a shaping wax.
The Results: Fuller, natural-looking brows
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that getting my desired brow look took little to no effort with this product. Because of the pigmentation of the product, I didn't need to go over my brows a million times to get my desired thickness. It also allows me to have bolder brows some days and more natural-looking brows on others.
Another aspect I like about the product is that the formula includes ingredients that help promote hair health. Okay, I haven't found any significant changes in my brow's overall appearance sans product—perhaps because they are already absurdly long—but it's nice knowing that the actives are there. Overall, this is my favorite new brow product, and I cannot rave about it more.
The Value: Reasonably priced
Kosas always delivers quality products at a reasonable price. For $22, you get a sufficiently sized pencil that will last you for a while. After using for about three weeks now I’ve barely noticed the tip dwindling down. Compared to other similar brow products, I’d say that this one falls right in the middle price-wise.
Similar Products: You have options
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz: It’s almost impossible to think of brow products without Anastasia coming to mind, and for a good reason. The Brow Wiz ($23) has been a cult-classic eyebrow product and has a similar look to Brow Pop. However, this pencil has a fine-tip point, unlike Brow Pop’s triangle design.
Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Eye Brow Pencil: Prior to using Brow Pop, this eyebrow pencil ($45) from Bobbi Brown was my go-to. I like the precision tip, which is pretty similar to Brow Pop’s triangular tip, and the formula is waterproof and sweatproof. On the other hand, it’s about double the price, so given the option between the two, I’d opt for Kosas’s product.
Final Verdict
Even though I’ve only been using the product for a few weeks, I can already tell that the Kosas Brow Pop Dual-Action Defining Pencil will be one of my go-to products for a while. Even when planning on a mostly makeup-free day, I’ll still fill in my brows with this pencil because it gives an overall more put-together look. So, if your looking for thicker, fuller brows choosing this pencil is a no-brainer.
